Top 5 Horror Movies: Pregnancy + Postpartum

You’ve seen the trend. And I couldn’t resist — because my scariest moments didn’t happen in a movie theater. They happened in a delivery room. Three times.

1. Being pregnant

Miraculous and completely terrifying. The anxiety, the googling, the 2am spirals. Especially after preeclampsia, the fear is real.

2. Never being pregnant again

My third and youngest is my last. Knowing that makes every stage feel more precious and more heartbreaking at the same time. It is such a bittersweet experience knowing I’ll never see the delivery room for my own babies again.

3. Having preeclampsia. Again.

I had preeclampsia with all three of my boys. If you know, you know. It’s not something you forget, physically or emotionally.

4. The magnesium drip

For my fellow preeclampsia moms, I don’t need to say anything else. You already felt that in your whole body. I know there are other scenarios in labor and delivery that use magnesium as well, it’s a torturous and life saving drug.

5. Figuring out what’s for dinner

Because after everything: the pregnancies, the deliveries, the postpartum survival mode, this question still breaks me every single day. Especially with 3 boys who don’t all eat the same thing.

Preeclampsia affects 1 in 25 pregnancies and yet so many moms go through it feeling completely alone. I was one of them, three times.

If you’ve experienced it your fear was valid, your experience was real, and you are not alone. 🤍

And if you’re still figuring out what’s for dinner tonight… same. Always same.
